An open, Mediterranean park that reunites the city with the sea. Designed according to the principles of the New European Bauhaus—sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion—the park creates new green areas, cultural spaces, and infrastructure resilient to climate change.
Covering 75% of its area with Mediterranean native vegetation and natural materials, and with 4,000 trees and 185,000 shrubs forming a green area, it will host open-air events, sports activities, playgrounds, and learning spaces.
Faliro Bay has functioned, geographically and historically, as Athens’ open gateway to the sea.
For this reason, we are moving forward with completing the redevelopment of Faliro Bay by creating and developing a Metropolitan Park that will provide free, unrestricted access for all citizens, improved quality of life for residents and visitors, and opportunities for new activities.

This is a flagship project focused on sustainability, seeking to ensure the city’s opening to the sea and the unhindered access of citizens to a Mediterranean landscape. The project aims for multifaceted short- and long-term environmental, social, and economic benefits, in compatibility with the coastal-front projects under development in Attica, from Faliro to Sounio.
